Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM)
In February 2022, Woodhill hosted our review for the IQM award. This was our third year as a Centre of Excellence. Given our continued achievements and diligence in this area, we were awarded Flagship status this year. This is a fantastic recognition of our dedication to inclusion for all as it is a highly sought after and not easily achieved award.
WHAT IS THE IQM AND WHAT DOES FLAGSHIP STATUS MEAN?
The Inclusion Quality Mark provides schools with a nationally recognised framework to guide their inclusion journey. The IQM team help schools evaluate and measure how they are performing; empowering them to improve and grow. And when they’re successful, we recognise their achievement through a system of highly valued awards that provide external validation of their inclusive status.
Inclusion promotes equal opportunities for all pupils, whatever their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment and background. It pays particular attention to the provision made for, and the achievement of, different groups of pupils within a school. At Woodhill we strive to ensure the needs of all children are central to all that we do.

Becoming a Flagship school is an opportunity for us to continue to develop our great inclusive practice even further and share this practice across a network of other schools, both in our partnership and further.
“Only around 100 UK schools have achieved IQM Flagship School status. This award recognises those unique schools who have held IQM Centre of Excellence status for at least 3 years; and played a strong leadership role in developing inclusion best practice across a network of schools. These schools are committed to extending their networks further and publishing classroom-based research on an annual basis”- IQM website
Over the course of the next 3 years, our Woodhill’s commitment to inclusive practice will continue to be reviewed through IQM as we develop our project around Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.

Below are some highlights from the report:
‘The school has come on leaps and bounds and have taken staff, governors, parents, and pupils together on this journey to ensure that Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion is high on the agenda.’
‘One of the parents commented that ‘this school is a safe and caring place to be.’ Another parent said, ‘they treat you as family here’ and that ‘safety is a priority here’. The parents said that the school is very inclusive and that there are lots of activities for all the pupils to do and plenty for those pupils with SEND needs too.’
‘When meeting the Junior Leadership Team, they spoke confidently about the new behaviour system and how they feel that it has transformed the ethos of the school. They said it is ‘very inclusive and no matter whatever the pupils’ needs are they are responsible for their own self-regulation and so the class teacher can get on and teach.’ I must say, I was blown away when someone from the Junior Leadership Team spoke so positively and this way about a behaviour system in the school.’
