Woodhill Primary School

Governance at Woodhill Primary School

Welcome to Woodhill Primary School. We are really proud of our school.  Woodhill Primary School strives to be an outstanding school at the heart of the local community in which every child is empowered to have self-belief and to aspire to achieve her/his highest potential.

Our Trust Governance

At Inspire Partnership, we value and celebrate the diversity of each school and community we serve. While every school is unique, we share ideas, skills, and resources across our trust to help every child thrive.

Our trust has three key layers of governance:

  • Members (who hold the Trust to account),

  • Trustees (who make strategic decisions), and

  • Committees (who focus on specific areas of work).

The majority of our committees are focused on the performance of the Trust with a very unique exception - our Local Community Councils (LCC).   This sub committee is made up of local voices who work with school leaders to represent the views of families and the wider community.  Other committees focus on areas like finance, staff, standards, and safeguarding—all working together to support strong, well-run schools.

At Inspire Partnership, Local Community Councils (LCCs) are an important part of how we make sure every school stays closely connected to its local community.

LCCs are made up of school leaders, parents, carers, and community members who help shape local decisions putting their communities first.  They listen to the voices of parents, pupils, and staff, and use this feedback to make sure the school is meeting local needs and continuing to improve.

LCCs support our values in action:

  • Community First – They strengthen the link between school and home by listening to what matters most to families.

  • Collaboration Matters – They work in partnership with school leaders and the wider Trust to share ideas and drive improvement.

  • Excellence in Everything – They ask thoughtful questions and provide support to help schools be the best they can be.

  • Equity in Everything – They help ensure that every child, no matter their background, gets the support and opportunities they deserve.

Through regular school visits and involvement in school life, LCC members stay visible, active, and informed—ensuring that parent and community voices are always part of the conversation.

Meet your Local Community Council (LCC)

Ed Britton - LCC community member (Chair)

Term starts:24/1/2024  Term ends: 23/1/2028

Relevant business/pecuniary interests: None declared.

I have lived in South East London all my working life. I have enjoyed the great sense of community here and am pleased, by being an  LCC member mat the Inspire Partnership Greenwich Hub, to have the opportunity to be able to give something back to the community. I have been a governor at Woodhill since 2016, having previously been on the governing bodies of other local primary and secondary schools.

My own children, three daughters, are past school age now. But the memory of how important their first school was to each of them is still very much with me. I am determined to do all I can to help Woodhill give a great start to all the children that pass through our school.

I had a variety of jobs in the finance sector before stopping work in 2018. It’s great to be able to put my management experience and numeric skills to practical use for the benefit of the Inspire Partnership and our pupils.

Michael Stanton - LCC community member

Relevant business/pecuniary interests: None declared.

I am delighted to have the opportunity here at the Inspire Partnership Greenwich Hub to help develop excellent schools. I passionately believe that a well-run school benefits not only children but the community as a whole.

I worked as a teacher in Spain in 2010-2011, and worked with a number of wonderful teachers. I observed how well children and young adults responded to an inclusive environment, and saw how well effective teaching engages students. As such, education remains very close to my heart.

Originally from Devon, I moved to Woolwich in 2013, and have worked for the Bank of England since 2016. During my time at the Bank of England, I’ve looked closely at new banks’ applications – particularly in regard to their effective governance and senior manager appointments. My experience of assessing governance and effective senior management is something I hope will positively impact my role as Governor.
