Charlton Manor 2 - Woodhill Primary School 1

This week saw the start of our football season in the Charlton and local area football league.  Twelve teams took to Meridian Sports Centre in Charlton for their first round of games.  The ground was full of excitement and anticipation ahead of the upcoming season, with the local press taking photographs and interviews of players and coaches.  We faced Charlton Manor, Cherry Orchard and Invicta in our first three games.  Each player played superbly well, showed all of the Woodhilll values and represented the school in a really positive manner.  Long may this continue throughout the next five months of our season.

Squad: Justin (6P),  Jayden (6S), Charlie (6P), Christine (6S), Ellen (6P), Noordin (5F), Destiny (6P), Rio (5F), Sean (5B), Hysam (6P), Sophie (6S) and Anees (6P).

Charlton Manor 2-1 Woodhill

The game started in a nervous fashion, with neither side able to string many passes together.  The game began to settle halfway through with Woodhill starting to put some good passes together.  Charlton took the lead when an ambitious shot from outside of the area took everyone by surprise and crept into the bottom corner under the body of our goalkeeper Justin.  The goal shook Woodhill into action with Jayden coming close to scoring.  The pressure started to build with Woodhill looking for an equaliser.  Almost instantly from kick off some good play by Charlie and Anees in the middle set Jayden free who made no mistake firing in our consolation goal.  There was not enough time left however for a deserved equaliser.
