Harvest Festival 2019
Woodhill Primary School will once again be supporting the Greenwich Foodbank as part of our Harvest Festival Celebrations. Greenwich Foodbank gives three days of emergency non-perishable food to individuals and families in crisis. If you would like more information about the Greenwich Foodbank then please visit https://greenwich.foodbank.org.uk.
During the past year, the Foodbank has provided emergency food for 7,551 adults and children within our community, and with the full roll-out of Universal Credits in October 2018, the Foodbank noticed a sharp increase in referrals. This, together with the uncertainties ahead this year, is proving to be the most crucial in their existence so far and your donations are very gratefully received.
You may not realise, that primary schools in Greenwich actually contribute almost 15% of the annual food intake during the short period of harvest. We would really appreciate it if you could send your son/daughter into school with one or two items from the list below. If you wish to send more it will be really appreciated.
Items currently in need by the Foodbank are:
- Tinned Fruit
- Tinned Peas
- Tinned Carrots
- Tinned Fish or Meat
- Longlife Fruit Juice or Milk
- Tinned Rice/Custard
Please bring all donations by Friday 11th October, as a member of the Foodbank will be collecting shortly after. We will set up a display table for you to place your kind donations in the bottom hall.
We hope you will agree that this is a very worthwhile cause, helping people who need help in the local community.
